Quotations from David Gurteen:

If you are still alive you are doing well.

David Gurteen, Knowledge Educator

It is far easier to blame someone than to take the time to understand them.

David Gurteen, Knowledge Educator

We cannot change other people's behavior - only they can do that! Threats, rewards and praise do not work. We don't need to be told what to do. We just need to understand the world better and then we will see what needs to be done for ourselves. How do we understand the world better? Through open conversation and dialogue!

David Gurteen, Knowledge Educator

Information is about who did what, where and when while knowledge is more about how and why.

David Gurteen, Knowledge Educator

If knowledge is the ability to act then knowledge management should be about improving our ability and propensity to act.

David Gurteen, Knowledge Educator

Knowledge Management should not be about helping us to know more. It should be about helping us to understand better.

David Gurteen, Knowledge Educator

Knowledge workers are those people who have taken responsibility for their work lives . They continually strive to understand the world about them and modify their work practices and behaviors to better meet their personal and organizational objectives. No one tells them what to do. They do not take No for an answer. They are self motivated.

David Gurteen, Knowledge Educator

When competing, hoard your knowledge but when collaborating share it!

David Gurteen, Knowledge Educator

The limit to innovation in business is not technology, but managers obsolete viewpoints.

David Gurteen, Knowledge Educator

What you measure - you distort.

David Gurteen, Knowledge Educator

Just because you cannot measure something does not mean that it is not important.

David Gurteen, Knowledge Educator

Models are always wrong but many of them are useful.

David Gurteen, Knowledge Educator

Opportunities to do new exciting, rewarding things are all around us but if we don't look for them we don't see them and if we don't see them then its as if they never existed. They only come into being when we see them.

David Gurteen, Knowledge Educator

Quality is not just about doing things right - it is also about doing the right things.

David Gurteen, Knowledge Educator

The opposite of knowledge is not ignorance but believing that you know something when you do not.

David Gurteen, Knowledge Educator

Where there is understanding there is no blame.

David Gurteen, Knowledge Educator
