What I've come to understand and appreciate is that expressing feelings to trusting people is both a public act and a responsibility. It is cleansing, healing and critical to our own growth and to those around us, including our families and communities.

David Gurteen's comments: Jo's words capture this concept so well. I've never written it or even consciously thought it but I have always felt this about feelings - not that I have been that good about expressing them. I love it when other people crystalize what has long been tacit in me - it helps me recognize what is important in life and focus my energies a little more. What do you feel about expressing your feelings?
Video: Conference Conversations: KC UK 2007
One easy thing a chairperson can do at a conference do make them more engaging and interactive is to allow the participants to have a short conversation with each other after a speaker has finished their talk but before entering the Q&A.
Here is a short video of people doing this at the Ark Groups KC UK Conference in London in June 2007.
It works amazingly well.

Quotations are extremely effective at capturing and concisely communicating thoughts and ideas. They can be inspirational but more importantly quotations can help us reveal and assess the assumptions, values and beliefs that underlie the ways in which we perceive the world.
I have compiled over 500 quotations and short excerpts on this website. It is an eclectic mix but most of them are inspirational or insightful in nature and relate to knowledge, learning or personal development in some form.
If you love quotations as much as I do then you may wish to register to have a quote e-mailed to you once a week or more frequently by clicking on the button below and completing the form.
Or if you wish you can subscribe to an RSS feed Gurteen Daily Knowledge Quotes that will deliver a quote to your newsreader each day.
