A classic book for middle and project managers along with The Mythical Man-Month that demonstrates the major issues of software development are human, not technical. The book although fundamentally about software project teams is so people focused that it is essential reading for any project manager.
David Gurteen's comments: I bought the original edition of this book over 10 years ago and it must be one of the best I have read on project management. An updated second edition has recently been published (1999). I've bought it also!
Video: BLU Lesson 6: A little about my background by David Gurteen
One of six BLU lessons where I talk a little about my background.
In April 2005, BLU, the UK's Business Link University which no longer exists hired Fifty Lessons to produce a series of video stories for them to which I (David Gurteen) was invited to contribute. This is one of those stories.
