Keep in mind that Tao means how: how things happen. Learn to become more conscious of what is actually happening.

Photo slideshow of ECKM 2007 Knowledge Cafe, 8th European Conference on Knowledge Management in Barcelona, Spain on 6-7 September 2007.

We started this Cafe in a lecture room in the University but then walked across the road and held the Knowledge Cafe in a real cafe! They had a large upstairs room that we took over. Luckily for us we were finished before their peak lunch time period!

Quotations are extremely effective at capturing and concisely communicating thoughts and ideas. They can be inspirational but more importantly quotations can help us reveal and assess the assumptions, values and beliefs that underlie the ways in which we perceive the world.

I have compiled over 500 quotations and short excerpts on this website. It is an eclectic mix but most of them are inspirational or insightful in nature and relate to knowledge, learning or personal development in some form.

If you love quotations as much as I do then you may wish to register to have a quote e-mailed to you once a week or more frequently by clicking on the button below and completing the form.

Or if you wish you can subscribe to an RSS feed RSS Feed Gurteen Daily Knowledge Quotes that will deliver a quote to your newsreader each day.

The Tao of Leadership

Do you want to be a positive influence in the world?

First, get your own life in order. Ground yourself in the single principle so that your behaviour is wholesome and effective. If you do that, you will earn respect and be a powerful influence.

Your behaviour influences others through a ripple effect. A ripple effect works because everyone influences everyone else. Powerful people are powerful influences.

If your life works, you influence your family.
If your family works, your family influences the community.
If your community works, your community influences the nation.
If your nation works, your nation influences the world.
If your world works, the ripple effect spreads throughout the cosmos.

Remember that your influence begins with you and ripples outward. So be sure that your influence is both potent and wholesome.

How do I know that this works?

All growth spreads outward from a fertile and potent nucleus. You are a nucleus.
