The Wealth and Poverty of Nations by David Landes Professor David S. Landes is the Emeritus Professor of History & Economics at Harvard University. This book looks at the historic causes of the wealth and poverty of today's nations. It is immensely readable and enjoyable but judging by some of the reader comments on Amazon the author's views are somewhat controversial.
