I use it for converting audio files from one format to another such as wav files to mp3 format for playing on my website through the embedable Google mp3 player.
I also use it for reducing the size of audio files recorded on my iPod . Converting a 500mb high quality wav file to a lower quality mp3 for example reduces the size 100 fold down to about 5mb!
