We will have a tour of the facilities at Smartlab, we'll cover all the technology, and if there will be time to give people access. Smartlab is one of two digital labs (the other is the games lab). Partnered with MIT Media Lab, and delivering leading edge creative research into applications for digital technology Smartlab is one of the few organisations to remain viable in spite of cuts in government investment. The international PhD students will also be joining us to add their thought provoking ideas on the impact of 'smell in technology', the revolution of free broadband, the applications of digital knitting machines, the development of community & story telling and a whole host of opportunities for further exchanges and collaboration. After the talk and the tour, we will then go on to discuss the theme in the usual cafe style format. Facilitator: Dr Lizbeth Goodman - Director of Smartlab : See here
