Theme: An evening exploring 'Quality Conversation'. Conversation has been described as the “real currency of companies”. It is central to human interaction and key to the coordination of action. Not only this, conversation can make a huge difference to each and every one of us – for better or worse! The idea is to explore and practice ‘quality conversation’ and its links to results, to relationships, and to quality of experience. We’ll explore written as well as verbal conversation, on-line as well as face to face, synchronous and asynchronous conversation. We’ll also take a look beyond ‘quality conversation’ to ‘brilliant conversation’ – the nature of conversation that releases our brilliance. We might also consider why, so often, it seems conversation does not work so well. If conversation is the real currency of companies, could we make it work better? They’ll be a few starters for ten, some delicious entrees and tasters to kick us off and they’ll be a rich banquet of inquiries. We’ll take a slightly different format from usual because they’ll be a different but related question for each group of ‘conversationalists’. We’ll then work toward a grand synthesis. We will, of course, accommodate different perspectives: Talk’s cheap! Quality conversation makes such a difference to creativity, action and well-being. Brilliant conversation? Well, brilliant conversation simply transports me to a completely different horizon! I begin to see with new eyes. Speaker: Ray Shaw Ray has been a regular of the London Knowledge Cafe for some years. A quietly spoken, shy, retiring young fellow (not!) he has been described as an ‘author, storyteller and magic consultant’. The nature of that ‘magic’ being the ‘soft stuff’ we can all use to transform ourselves, results and our quality of experience. He is currently working on a significant book series and associated resources. Host: Alison Leahy, London Development Agency
