Date: Thursday 21st May 2009 6:00pm - 8:30pm. Please arrive at 6:00pm or shortly after, which will give you time to settle in and meet other people. Refreshments will be available. The cafe itself will start at 6:30pm. For those interested we normally go for a drink at a local pub after the event. Host: Roger Farbey of the British Dental Association Venue: British Dental Association 64 Wimpole Street London W1G8YS Theme: How can the Knowledge Cafe be used for good business purpose within organizations? I started the Knowledge Cafes in London almost seven years ago and they have grown and developed beyond my original concept. I now run them all over the world and people of all cultures love and enjoy them and learn from them. Increasingly though, Knowledge Cafes are being run within organizations and are being adapted and applied to a range of business issues. StatoilHydro in Norway are a good example and have been using Knowledge Cafes very creatively for last 18 months or so. The Cafes have been so successful that I now run half-day and one-day workshops on how to implement them and more generally how to encourage open conversation in our organizations. (The next Knowledge Cafe Masterclass is in London on the 19th May if you are interested.) So at this Cafe, I will share with you the Knowledge Cafe story: how and why I started them and how they have grown and developed and how organizations are using them in different ways today. But I believe the Cafes have far more potential and I have some ideas on how I would like to develop them that I would also like to share with you. The question, I would like to pose is "How do you think the Knowledge Cafe can be used for good business purpose within organizations?" Even, if you have not attended a Knowledge Cafe before, do come along as I assure you - you will have no problem engaging with the question.
