KM India Initiative: Creating a Knowledge Ecosystem in Industry and Society

KM India is an endeavor undertaken to create a more robust Indian ecosystem, that generates economic value through the effective harnessing of knowledge and intellectual capital, within knowledge-based organizations and industries. The intent is to create a better understanding of knowledge management practices, research and practical applications. Stakeholders in this ecosystem include KM practitioners, policy makers, as well as academicians and researchers. As better knowledge management practices get instituted within India, the quality and quantity of knowledge being generated and consumed will be enhanced, thereby allowing the accelerated production of economic value. This initiative is intended to support India’s emergence as a knowledge superpower, in a connected global economy.

KM India 2007: The CII Knowledge Summit

As part of the KM India initiative, an annual summit will be held to bring together thought leaders, practitioners, and authorities to enter into conversations and debate on topics and issues relevant to India’s knowledge organizations and societal needs. They will discuss the practical challenges that are faced and solutions that can be applied in knowledge-centric initiatives. The summit will consist of several sessions, with keynotes, panel discussions, case studies, masterclasses, the MAKE Award ceremony, and many opportunities for informal interaction.

To get a good cross-section of views, dialog, and debate, speakers and delegates will be attending from academia, the public sector, and the industry, from both within India and abroad. Other than practical takeaways and learning for the participants, the summit will also publish a white paper capturing the key deliberations and recommended action points discussed during the summit, which can then be used to make further progress for all stakeholders.
