he KMAfrica 2007 second biennial conference: knowledge to remobilise Africa, to be held in the beautiful city of Nairobi, Kenya, from 17 to 19 July, will bring together diverse international development finance institutions, sector professionals and civil-society organisations. Such similar, contiguous or complementary mandates, experiences and interests, it is hoped, will influence the creation of a consensual, mental map for the sustainable regional and national socio-economic development of African countries.
The conference will synthesise coalitions of independent and interdependent knowledge networks and practitioners into a conduit for the cooperative pursuit of mutual advantage to rival the countervailing dominance of trade, finance and investment by affluent countries having the muscle of strong, hi-tech economies.
In drawing on the numerous global, integrative trends, the conference will explore themes of knowledge as a force in development. The findings, arising out of the conference, pertinent to the application of knowledge solutions that serve developmental needs, will point the way in refining policies, approaches and processes that liberate the continent from its debilitating despair and move towards prosperity.
