Theme: The Gurteen Knowledge Cafe

This is the first time I have run a Gurteen Knowledge Cafe in Jakarta and so I will start by explaining the history of the cafes; their purpose; their benefits and the process by which they are run.

We will then move on to run a knowledge cafe on the theme of "What are the barriers to knowledge sharing and innovation within organizations and how do we overcome them?

I have run 100s of knowledge cafes over the last few years and they are really great learning and networking events. Everyone engages with the theme of the cafe and some tremendous insightful, energetic conversations take place. If you can make it - please do come along. You will not be disappointed. Better still the cafe format is one that you can take back with you and use in your own organizations to help create a more innovative culture.

Date: Tuesday 17th April 2007 6:00pm - 8:30pm. Please arrive at 6:00pm or shortly after which will give you time to settle in and meet other people. Drinks and light refreshments will be available. The cafe itself will start at 6:30pm.

Room: Ask to be directed to the Knowledge Cafe at the reception. It is in the auditorium.

Directions: Erasmus Huis is exactly beside the Netherlands Embassy. Unfortunately they don’t have a parking lot, but you can park along the side of the streets. As you enter, you will have to go through security, and go to the left. The door to the reception is on the left. There, you should ask for the reception or just go up the stairs. The auditorium is on the right in front of you.

This is a pretty comprehensive video taken at one of my Gurteen Knowledge Cafes at the SMARTLab at the University of East London on the 4th October 2006.

I don't suggest you watch it all but listen to the beginning and then fast browse forward through it to capture the essence and the energy of the cafe. I think as you can see it was a fun evening with lots of lively conversation and is typical of one of my knowledge cafes.
