To: Gurteen Community Members in Europe In early October I will be chairing a Social Tools conference from UNICOM Seminars for the fifth time in the last 2 years. The past conferences have been great events and I am sure this one will be no exception. In addition to the conference I will be running a pre-conference workshop and UNICOM will also be hosting one of my open London Knowledge Cafes. So given all of this, I thought you might like to know more about the events: Web 2.0: Practical Applications for Business Benefit I will be chairing this conference in London on 1 - 2 October. We have some excellent speakers lined up including Euan Semple, Ron Donaldson and Luis Suarez. As you are no doubt aware Web 2.0 technologies and Social Tools and having a transformative effect on the web and their impact is becoming greater as these tools migrate into organizations as so called "Enterprise 2.0" applications. Social Tools are powerful communication and collaboration tools that can be used in all areas of business including marketing, corporate communications, R&D and product development. What's more they can be used both internally or externally to communicate and collaborate with customers, suppliers and partners. Effective Knowledge Worker Workshop On the 30th September, I will be facilitating a 1 day workshop "The Effective Knowledge Worker" where I teach some of the core skills required of an effective knowledge worker. I have run this workshop several times at UNICOM's past Social Tools events and recently in Dubai and Jakarta. Its a participatory, fun day. London Knowledge Cafe On the evening of the 1st October, at the end of the first day of the conference, UNICOM will be hosting an open Gurteen Knowledge Cafe where Luis Suarez of IBM will talk about his experiences of reducing his dependence on e-mail and pose the question "Could you stop using e-mail?" Whether you attend the conference or workshop or not - the Cafe is free and you are most welcome to come along. Over 50 people have signed up already! I hope you can make one or more of these events and look forward to seeing you if you do. Regards David David Gurteen Gurteen Knowledge PS. If you would like to continue to receive my monthly knowledge-letter but would rather not receive these occasional e-mail updates then please see here.
