Creativity and intuition

From Gordon Nicholson: I am still working on this paper; currently (April, 2004) I have discovered some very interesting links in my research data between the creativity of artists and its relation to two important aspects of consciousness: intuition and "flow"?the latter being an altered state of consciousness where the work and the ability are matched so well that the creator loses track of him or herself, of time, of space and does creative work at an intuitive and very high level. This is what I would mean by Self-Management in David Gurteen's language. The theme of intution is very deeply a part of the conscious creator, in that many subconscious themes of the work (whatever it is?artistry, business management...)are so inter-related that, when a creative problem comes up, the answer is there because the "ensembles" of knowledge subconsciously in the mind interact and network with each other so quickly that the creator is not conscious of the process, yet gets the answer to the problem almost instantaneously. He or she knows what to do and does it without knowing why; it is choosing for no (conscious or rational) reason and is the heart of intution. Intuition has been found, in the transpersonal literature, to be part of human self-actualization and, in traditional literature, is deemed to be spiritual, i.e. coming from a deep psychic source or realm (Jung's collective unconscious is similar) the origin of which is still nebulous. But this is personal management of inner knowledge, accesible by "flow" work, by meditation etc. This is the essence of my research at the current time and I hope to have the results of this writing finished in the next couple of months
