I agree, apart from your assumption that experience is better obtained while working in a full time job. If you pick a profession e.g. knowledge management I would suggest that you would get more experience working for three different companies that you would with one. So a permanent person who worked for one company for 5 years would have less experience than a contractor who worked on three different contracts in three different companies during the same time period.
I would suggest that we should focus on the experience gained not the status of employment and I would suggest that more experience could be gained by working in different companies on different projects rather than one company and one project.
