Following the release of Information as an Asset: today's board agenda in February 2019, an update on the earlier report issued by the Hawley committee in the mid 1990s, CILIP worked with the Financial Times to commission a survey of its readers. Its purpose: to build a better understanding of their perception of knowledge and information management. Over 540 respondents gave candid insights into their respective organisations, which was summarised in The edge of intelligence, published in early March 2020.
We will take this opportunity to reflect on the key findings from the survey, highlighting many of the challenges already facing organisations before the pandemic emerged. We will consider the implications of the current crisis and the new operating environment being adopted. We will then discuss the practical ways knowledge and information managers can help their organisations maintain and build on their success.
