Join us in an exclusive, one-day workshop led by Steve Bealing, Chief Executive of Cognitive Edge Pte Ltd and Stuart Smith, Chief Executive of Wood Holmes Group

Cognitive-edge

This challenging and participative workshop is designed to help you better manage change in uncertainty; make sense of complex organisations, markets and communities; decide how to decide; avoid pointless analysis and develop an understanding of your organisation that enables action to be taken.

You will gain an insight into emerging methods and supporting software, that has been successfully developed by Cognitive Edge and Wood Holmes Group, and implemented in sectors as diverse as: Regeneration & Construction, Defence, central and local Government, Technology and Innovation. These techniques were recently featured as the lead article in The Harvard Business Review (November 2007) and this workshop presents an opportunity to engage in the forefront of 21st century management thinking.

Key aspects of the day will look at:

Sensemaking (understanding complex organisations and situations), Networks (identifying and developing links and trust between individuals) and Narrative (Capturing, analysing and gaining insights from anecdotes, culture  and dialogue), with case studies of past projects used as illustrations.

Objectives of the workshop include:

  • Distinguishing between straightforward situations, that can be managed by formal processes and complex situations that require managed evolution to deliver success.
  • The use of different decision models for different situations; deciding how to decide.
  • Understanding the difference between efficiency and effectiveness, and how to manage uncertainty within organisations by creating a culture of resilience.

Video: Egypt, Sinai, Kids from Dahab playing

Kids from Dahab in Egypt at play. I just love to watch children play - I can't explain it - something to do with the joy of life and the innocence - it gives me great pleasure.
