Online Event with Dr Edna Pasher and Mimi Tresman KM for Sustainability When: Wednesday, 17th Jan at 16:00 CET www.knowledgeboard.com/events/chat-room.html To start the New Year and end the current KnowledgeBoard we are hosting an online event focusing on sustainability as a strategy. "Only organizations that are constantly renewing themselves will prosper in a constantly changing world" The future and sustainability of organizations and societies depends on their ability to manage knowledge – create, find, share and organize it – especially in our transformation into knowledge societies based on knowledge economies. Issues of sustainable development are based on the Triple Bottom Line which incorporates economic, social and environmental issues into one perception. This is closely related to social responsibility. In order to truly benefit from sustainable development and social responsibility, organizations and societies must go beyond their ongoing daily activities and think consciously about their future. Managing knowledge is an important factor in sustainability. The ability to utilize an organization or societies' resources – natural, human and their knowledge are of critical importance in regard to preparing for the future and adapting to technological, social, environmental and economic changes. The use of knowledge as a resource can be utilized through different tools such as Knowledge Cities, Future Centres, Innovation Labs, Sustainability Reports and Knowledge Cafés - many of these tools are not new but using them within a new and different context can enhance the sustainability of a society and organization.
