Are you managing your knowledge to enable the best-informed decisions in R&D and product innovation? For 3 days from 5-7 July 2006 at Oxford University we will be holding a set of InnovationWell workshops examining and discussing methods and best practices for accelerating innovation, integrating knowledge, communicating understanding and supporting decision making in industry research and product development.

The program will consist of a set of interactive pragmatic workshops and forum led by industry practitioners who will work through and discuss complex case-studies, strategies and emerging best practices.

The instructor group brings together a collective intelligence of leading expertise and workshop facilitation competency and includes Victor Newman, Iain Bitrain, Steffen Conn, Paul Lefrere, David Gurteen, Barry Hardy, Jeff Spitzner, John Trigg and Dave Snowden.

Topics to be addressed and discussed at the workshops include: Strategic Knowledge Management in R&D, Intellectual Property, Licensing & Valuation, Effective Deployment Strategies for Electronic Laboratory Notebooks, Knowledge Assessment & Auditing, Ontologies & Knowledge Discovery, Integrating Innovation Management & Research Activities, Communication & Collaboration between Research Teams & Partners, Organisational Development & Culture in R&D, Decision Support for Research Project & Portfolio Management and Integration of Tools & Data.

These workshops are aimed to bring leading best practice and issue discussion to industry researchers and managers striving to use the latest innovation and knowledge management techniques and tools to maximise productivity and return in investment from R&D activities. Workshop groups will work through and discuss complex issues highlighted by detailed case studies presented by instructors.

Business analysts, research managers, researchers, product development managers, innovation managers, knowledge managers, department heads, intellectual property managers, IT and KM support groups, service providers and vendors will all take-away key nuggets of understanding in this fast-evolving field and will have ample opportunity to share and discuss their different perspectives.

The approaches discussed will be of interest to management in all industries undertaking innovative research and product development and the format will encourage cross-sectoral peer-to-peer contact and learning.

Participants should take away lessons to enhance their programmes and enrich their practices so that

their organisations get the right information in the right form at the right time so that the best decisions are made in research and product development.

More details on the workshops can be found on the InnovationWell website at http://www.innovationwell.net/COMTY_rpdtraining
