Pre-Copernicus, the Earth was in the centre of the solar system, but something wasn't right. The planets spun in bizarre patterns, and looped back on themselves in strange ways. No-one could define the orbits, confusion reigned, and superstition gave rise to a myriad of approximate methods, explanations, and supposed gurus. It took a small number of people to adopt an entirely new way of looking at things… to re-centre the solar system, find a new simplicity, and birth a new science. In this session we invite the participants to engage with us in a facilitated exploration of the knowledge management paradigm… is it centered incorrectly on knowledge? And does this flawed start lead to problems of definition, predictability, and ultimately value? We will play with some different techniques, herd some sacred cows, and nudge some discomfort. You have the answers. Facilitator: : Jason Bates and Philip Greenwood Flying the ‘Union jack’ and the ‘Skull and Crossbones’; Jason Bates and Philip Greenwood fix broken organizations and paradigms. As partners at Beaufortes, they help leaders discover new sources of value using a blend of traditional management thought, and modern psychological insight. With decades of experience helping some of the world’s best known companies with strategic change programs, they engage, guide, and facilitate their clients in creating better solutions for themselves … and have fun doing it.
